A Message from Dr. Robert H. Brown, Jr, MD, PhD.
Director of the Day Neuromuscular Laboratory and Muscular Dystrophy Association Clinic at University of Massachusetts Hospital.

"All of us in the frontline of ALS research, both in the clinic and in the labs, are deeply grateful to the Timlin family and their associates for hosting the Timlin road race. In past years, this has been wonderfully successful. It has raised substantial research funding, generated good will, and increased public awareness of ALS. The Timlins set an example for commitment that energizes and motivates all of us to do more to find a cure for ALS. When the answer is found, it will be an honor for each of us to have stepped to the plate as a member of this team."

Throughout his career, Dr. Brown has been honored for his exceptional commitment to the fight to cure neuromuscular diseases. He is a world renowned ALS researcher and a Harvard Medical School Professor of Neurology.

"As a first time participant in the Sharon Timlin Memorial 5K Road Race to Cure ALS, I found it to be very well-organized and had a lot of exciting enhancements...numerous fun games and activities for the kids along with a great spread of post race food. The course was enjoyable to run and very well-marked and monitored. And, of course, everyone was excited to see all the Red Sox players and their families in attendance - Curt Schilling, Trot Nixon, Jason Varitek, Jonathan Papelbon and, the star of the day, Mike Timlin and his family. I highly recommend this race to anyone looking for an entertaining and very well run race for the entire family."

Dave McGillivray, Race Director
B.A.A. Boston Marathon

"After over three years and as many races, I believe this race serves as a metaphor of sorts for the race to cure ALS itself. Since its inception, people…GREAT people, have banded together with a concept and applied themselves in incredible ways. What started as a "small" hope has grown to a huge realization. More has been learned with each years/races passing. All the people behind the race have a keen desire to make the event a true success and it is reflected as such on race day. "

"The Sharon Timlin Memorial 5K Road Race has all the right ingredients. It is run in a community steeped in road racing history ... its organizers have crafted a race with the runners in mind ... it is fun ... and most of all it delivers a great return to The Angel Fund for ALS Research. If you are looking for a race with local favor, organized by committed volunteers, with a real purpose I suggest that you give it a try."
